President-elect

Neil Gow is a member of the Aberdeen Fungal Group that constitutes one of the largest academic centres for basic research in medical mycology in the world.  He has specific interests in the molecular genetics of cell wall biosynthesis in fungi and the directional growth responses of fungal cells as well as the virulence properties of medically important fungal species.  In recent years he has focussed mainly on the genetics of glycosylation and the fungus-host interaction, and on chitin synthesis and hyphal orientation responses.  He is currently editor in chief of Fungal Genetics and Biology.

Bernard Hube is Head of the Department of "Microbial Pathogenicity Mechanisms" at the Hans Knoell Institute, and Professor at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, Germany. His major research interest is the molecular biology and pathogenesis of Candida albicans and C. glabrata. In particular, his work on secreted proteases (Saps) is well known. More recently he has focussed his research on functional genomics and host-pathogen interactions. In addition to ISHAM, he is member of several microbial societies (DMykG, DGHM, ASM, VAAM) and editorial boards. He is active member of the European networks ERA-NET PathoGenoMics FUNPath and the Marie Curie Initial Training Network FINSysB.
